Acceptable Use Policy
1. Prohibited content & conduct
You may not use VerifyEat (the application, hosted pages, exported QR codes, or our website) to publish, transmit, or facilitate:
- Misleading food information. Knowingly false ingredient lists, omitted allergens, manipulated nutrition claims, or "vegan/vegetarian/halal/kosher/gluten-free" labels that are not accurate.
- Illegal goods or services. Anything that violates Swiss, EU, UK, or your local law, including controlled substances mislabelled as food.
- Content that infringes third-party rights. Unlicensed photos, recipes copied verbatim from cookbooks, names that infringe trademarks, etc.
- Hate speech, harassment, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
- Malware, phishing, or social-engineering payloads embedded in QR codes, exported HTML, or images.
- Spam or unsolicited bulk messaging via any contact channel we provide.
2. Prohibited technical use
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where permitted by mandatory law.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network operated by us, our hosts, or our sub-processors, without prior written authorisation. Responsible security disclosure is encouraged — see the Security page.
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with security features (e.g., subscription gating, fair-use limits, rate limits).
- Use automated tools to access, scrape, or hammer the AI translation feature beyond normal restaurant operation.
- Resell, sublicense, or rebrand VerifyEat as your own product without a written agreement.
- Use the LocalMenuServer feature to expose menu pages on networks you do not control or are not authorised to use.
3. Fair-use limits on AI translation
AI translation calls are subject to fair-use limits proportional to your subscription plan. Indicative monthly soft limits (we will give you a heads-up before enforcing harder caps):
| Plan | Indicative monthly translation cap |
|---|---|
| Trial | Up to 50 product translations |
| Standard | Up to 1,000 product translations / month |
| Pro | Up to 5,000 product translations / month |
If you genuinely need more, email us — we'll find a setup that works rather than cut you off mid-week.
4. Enforcement
If we believe you are in breach of this AUP, we may, depending on severity:
- Reach out and ask you to correct the issue.
- Apply rate limits or temporarily restrict specific features.
- Suspend your subscription.
- Terminate your account and remove hosted content.
- Report illegal activity to law enforcement.
For clear violations, we will act first and explain afterwards. For grey areas, we will reach out and try to resolve before taking action.
5. Reporting abuse
If you believe a VerifyEat-published page violates this AUP — for example, misrepresents allergens, infringes your trademark, or hosts infringing imagery — write to abuse@verifyeat.com with the URL and a short description. We aim to triage within 5 business days.
6. Changes
We may update this AUP as the product and the threat landscape evolve. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.
