Cookie Policy
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to remember you between visits. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, web beacons, and pixel tags. Together, they are commonly referred to as "tracking technologies".
2. Our approach
VerifyEat is built on a privacy-by-design principle. The verifyeat.com marketing website does not require any cookies to function, and we have made the deliberate decision not to use:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Plausible-with-cookie-mode, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising or retargeting cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight, etc.)
- Session or preference cookies on the marketing site
- Third-party social media tracking pixels
Because we set no cookies, we are not required to display a cookie consent banner under EU/EEA, UK, or Swiss law.
3. Could that change?
If we ever introduce cookies (for example, a cart for the future Hosted Pages add-on, or strictly-necessary security cookies), we will:
- Update this Cookie Policy with a clear table of every cookie set, its purpose, duration, and whether it is first- or third-party.
- Show a consent banner that complies with Art. 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive — meaning all non-essential cookies will be off by default and require your active opt-in.
- Make it equally easy to refuse cookies as to accept them.
4. Third-party resources we load
The website loads two external assets that may set their own cookies under the rules of their providers:
| Resource | Provider | Cookies set |
|---|---|---|
| Inter font CSS | rsms.me (Rasmus Andersson) | None observed; CSS file only. |
| Hosting / CDN | Cloudflare, Inc. | May set the security-only __cf_bm cookie (bot management) per Cloudflare's policy. This cookie is strictly necessary for service security and contains no personal identifiers from us. |
If you have a strict no-cookies posture, you can review Cloudflare's cookie behaviour at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
5. The macOS app
The VerifyEat macOS app does not use cookies. It stores data locally in ~/Library/Application Support/VerifyEat/ on your Mac. See the Privacy Policy for details.
6. Browser controls
Even though we don't set cookies, you remain in control of your browser. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, or block cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies will not affect your experience on verifyeat.com.
